A QR code fans scan to send you their videos

Updated 1 November 2026

A QR code for video uploads is a code fans scan with their phone camera that opens a page where they can send you the videos they filmed. There is nothing to install. They scan, pick the clips from their camera roll and tap send. On aftershow, every show gets its own upload page and its own QR code, and you can also get one code for your whole page that you can point anywhere later.

What happens when a fan scans the code?

The phone opens your upload page in the browser. Fans see your photo, your name and your links, choose videos and photos, and upload them in full quality. They do not need an app or an account. If you turned on email collection, they can leave their name and email too. The files land in your dashboard under that show.

Where do you get the QR code?

aftershow has two kinds, and you can use both:

  • A code for each show. Open the event in your dashboard and download its QR code as an image. It leads straight to the upload page for that one show.
  • A dynamic QR code. In your settings you get one code for your page, at aftershow.io/yourname/qr. You can change where it points any time without printing it again. If you never set it, it opens your artist page.

Both are included on the Free plan. QR code scans show up in your stats as their own source, so you can see whether the poster or the screen actually worked.

Where should you put the code at a show?

Put it where people look at the moment they have their phones out:

  • On the screen behind the stage near the end of the set, big and for long enough to scan.
  • On a sign at the merch table, where people stand still and wait anyway.
  • On posters at the door or by the bar, with one short line like "Send us your videos from tonight".
  • On setlists, flyers or stickers you hand out.

Make it large and give it plenty of white space around it. A small code on a dark poster in a dark room is hard to scan. Test it from a few metres away with your own phone before doors open.

Should you print one code per show or one for the tour?

A code per show sends fans straight to the right upload page, which works well on a screen you can change every night. For anything printed once and used for months, like merch, stickers or a banner, the dynamic code is the better choice. Point it at tonight's show while you are on tour, and at your next show or your page later. The printed code keeps working.

Do you need to say anything on stage?

It helps. A code on a screen is easy to miss, and many fans will not guess what it is for. One sentence is enough: say that you would love their videos from tonight and that the code on the screen is where to send them. Then post the same link in your stories after the show for everyone who missed it.

What if the code stops working?

If you change your page address, older codes no longer point to the right page, so download the codes again from the event or your settings. For other problems, the FAQ has a short troubleshooting section.
